'Military in Scale' review about ARC

---------------------

In the 'Military In Scale' issue for December 2002 there was quite a nice and interesting review about ARC.

The review focuses on the update for Aug 17 2002.  Further below on this page, I have included the ARC home page text and pics relating to August 17 2002.

The August 17 2002 update was devoted to the Indonesian Independence Day and the models were a fantastic variety of models.

The homepage image in the review to the right was taken from the Oct 15 2002 update, but the text of the review focuses on the Aug 17 2002 update.

Today is Aug 17 2003.....the Indonesian Independence Day yet again and I thought it would be nice to add this review to ARC on this Special Day for all the modellers in Indonesia as well as all the ARC regulars.

Saturday, Aug 17 2002            Indonesia Independence Day
Today's update is devoted to all the ARC regulars in Indonesia.
Iwan Winarta from Indonesia  kicks off this very special day with his 1/72 Hasegawa P-3C Update II/III Orion.  this model did very well at the recent model contest in Indonesia.  Very nice Iwan.
Alexander Sidharta, Iwan Winarta, Andre, Masato, Rahman and Erid from Indonesia all teamed up for a huge selection of models about the Indonesian Air Force – a brief history.  These aircraft include many well known planes from the US as well as the Eastern Bloc.
Peter Asan  from Indonesia has built the 1/32 Trumpeter MiG 17 F in Indonesian Air Force markings.  This is a very good kit and provides the modeller with great value.  Peter enjoyed the build and ended up with a great looking MiG.

Tanty Listiawaty is the wife of an ARC regular.  She's also from Indonesia and this is her 1/144 Academy F-4 Phantom II.  You have got to check out the hand painted paint scheme.....the artwork involved is amazingly detailed.  Beautiful  Tanty!!  I like it!!

Alexander Sidharta has his 1/72 Academy MiG-27 Flogger converted into MiG-23BN Flogger in Iraqi markings.  Included in his article is a picture of a Desert Storm model display from a recent event in Indonesia.
Kamil Pranata  from Indonesia joins us here at ARC with his 1/48 Revell B-1B LANCERHe built this model with great skill and scratchbuilt some details to improve upon this massive model.  Few finish this kit.....well done Kamil.
Eddy has some Indonesian decals he made that he thought you all might be interested in seeing.  They are for the TNI-AU F-16A Millennium Scheme Indonesian Air Force and he's considering printing some up and selling them if there is suitable demand for them.  Thanks Eddy.
In the Test Post Clubhouse there is a new daily joke and a funny picture.....the picture is an iceberg including the whole underwater part...very freaky how big these are!!  (see below for pic)

EVER SEE AN ICEBERG FROM TOP TO BOTTOM?

This is awesome! This came from a Rig Manager for Global Marine Drilling  in St.Johns, Newfoundland. They actually have to divert the path of these things away from the rig by towing them with ships!

Anyway, in this particular case the water was calm & the sun was almost directly overhead so that the diver was able to get into the  water and click this pic. Clear water huh?! They estimated the weight at  300,000,000 tons.

And now we also know why they say one picture is worth 1000 words....
.....And now we also know why the Titanic Sank!
