Here is my Hasegawa 15-C in 1/48 scale. This one has been reworked pretty extensively through the use of Verlinden detail sets and many scratchbuilt components. 

I was so paranoid  about getting dark panel lines that the wash was almost non-existent! 99% of  the effect was just from the pastel chalks. What I did was to take an old  paintbrush and cut off the hairs so that I was left with a stubble of a  brush. I first use a long hair brush to place the dust along the grooves and  then I scrub it in with the stubble brush. And they are recessed lines. I  never work with raised lines. If the kit comes with raised lines, one of the first things I do is sand 'em all off and start scribing. 

All the probe covers are scratchbuilt as well as the F.O.D. covers in the intakes. I cut out the avionics bay areas and inserted the Verlinden resin pieces, which I then wired up. The afterburner pipes are the photoetched Verlinden ones...very difficult (I thought) to put together!  There's some scratchbuilt pieces in the cockpit along with the Verlinden stuff.  The Remove before flight tags were the printed Verlinden ones and all the missile nose covers were scratchbuilt. The weapons came from the Hasegawa weapons kit. Decals are Superscale and paint is Modelmaster enamels. Weathering by a very light wash of artist's oils thinned in Turpenoid and some pastel chalks.
