Last spring I got the order from a friend to bring him that Coast Guard Bell from Italeri in scale 1/48. Next to it in the shelf there was that army version of the chopper and I knew there is a detail set containing photo etched parts from Eduard. I decided to buy both to build the army chopper myself. It was my first helicopter since twenty years.

The detail of the kit itself is satisfying, but with the not even cheap Eduard set this detail is raised to a high level. Of course there is much more to add in addition to it, but it is not necessary in this scale. Consider the 1/35-Kit of Revell this would become necessary. Not even every Part of the Eduard set was used by me, but most of them. Another time I have to say a Eduard zoom set (which does not yet exist in this case) would have done the job, too.

An advantage of this fragile body with the framework tail is that one can paint this heli without any airbrush. Of course you remember I do not own one. Only the sealing of the decals is done by using Gunzes Flat Clear can, everything else is simply brushed. The decals are from the kit, but not all of the stars and bars were used.

Next helicopter to come is the Hughes 500 from Academy. Seems to by a very quick job. But what paint scheme should I take?

Dirk
