HH-46 “Marines Rescue” made from the Fujimi CH-46 kit with Superscale decals Intro I
like colourful aircraft like rescue-birds, arctic colour scheme, drones or test
aircrafts. For this the Rescue version of the well known CH-46 is a nice
difference to the usual grey/green CH-46. In this configuration the helos are
used as base flights in SAR duty. The
Kit / Building The
kit is the standard Fujimi CH-46. Even if it is a Marines CH-46, it is not
necessary to take the expensive CH-46 E/F kit as the extra parts are not needed
for the HH-46. The kit gives you a nice replic of the “Frog” and fits good.
I did some changes to build the SAR-helo by using plastic sheet and thin wire to
build and detail the interior (the red net is made from moscito net), the winch
and the searchlight. The
painting was done with Gunze colours and my airbrush, as usual, and there is no
weathering, as the SAR-helos on the photos i have are all in very good and clean
condition.
The
decals are from superscale and and fixed with a last layer of Gunze gloss clear. All
in all it was fun to build this helicopter. Not too much extra work for the
conversion and i think it is a really nice colour scheme and something really
speacial in the showcase. Hope,
you like it, too.
