1/144 Dragon CF-18A Hornet

This is my 1/144 Scale F/A-18A Hornet from Dragon. I had originally intended it to be a quick, relaxing build from my normal 1/72 scale aircraft. However, due to horrible fit problems it quickly became a week long venture. Nothing fit on this kit. The intakes needed to be sanded and filed over and over again. The canopy (before sanding, twisting, and clamping) looked like something out of the Jetsons cartoon!

On the upside, Dragons 1/144 scale kits do tend to actually look like their intended subjects. I used the Leading Edge Decal sheet for the Cf-18  3 Wing special scheme. It was an excellent sheet. I have a wack of 1/72 Leading Edge Cf-18 special schemes that I am dying to try. Based on how they worked for me on this tiny kit it will be a joy. I only wish I had these markings in 1/72 scale...the old adage in the modelling hobby “you snooze you lose”. If you haven’t tried a tiny scale kit before, and you don’t mind filing and sanding, pick up one of these little guys.

If you haven’t picked up one of the many Leading Edge colourful Cf-18 sheets, definitely treat yourself! Sorry about the pictures...a photographer I am not. I hope you enjoy.
