1/72 Hasegawa F4F-3 Wildcat

This Wildcat was completed in February of 2007.  The build was straightforward and pleasurable; I used the now-virtually essential True Details resin cockpit/wheel well up-date set, and an Eduard pre-cut Kabuki-tape mask for the canopy

Polly Scale colors were applied with an airbrush to almost everything on this model; US Navy Blue-Gray for the topside over Gull Gray underside, US Interior Green for the cockpit, Reefer White for the wheels and wheel wells, Engine Black for tires and prop, Reefer Yellow for the prop tips.  The prop hub was hand-brushed with Citadel Mithril Silver.

Decals came straight out of the box, and went on with little trouble, though keen-eyed observers may note some wrinkling on the tail stripes.

This was a delight to build, and looks great next to its contemporary F4U-1A “Birdcage” Corsair, and F6F-3 Hellcat.

cheers
