Hello, everyone
here, I am Zhou Kun from mainland China (Zhou is my family name). I am a
doctorate student who majors in flight mechanics and flight control systems. It
is a great pleasure to submit here in ARC. My Revell Eurofighter Typhoon has
just been finished in the Spring festival.
Generally, Revell
provided us a great kit and did a great job to capture the shape of a real
Eurofighter. However, some little flaws are still found in the fitting and
scribed lines. Thus finishing the kit needs a lot of putty and sanding. I
did not use any aftermarket products. The kit provided a lot of configurations,
thus one have a lot of options with fuselage markings and loadout schemes.

Construction:
It took me about 2
years to complete the kit since I only build models in holidays. The fitting of
the kit is generally OK, but it needs a lot of filling and sanding
(especially the nasty air intake duct). The wings of the aircraft came in
top and bottom halves, therefore extra sanding works were done to make
the trailing edges thin enough. I selected to build a British
Typhoon F.2 at RAF Coningsby (may be FGR.4 now). So the nose and leading edge of
canards and vertical tail are a little darker than that of fuselage. For
fuselage, I used Gunze C334 Barley Gray since RAF air-superiority aircraft
are tend to use the same color (Tornado F.3s and RAF Phantoms also use this
color). :p
I scratch built the AOA/Sideslip
Sensors, rear view mirrors, and handles in the cockpit using placards. The
numbers for decals provided in instructions were totally wrong, so one
must re-number those little stencils carefully.
Revell provided us a whole set of
weaponary in the kit. So I picked the MBDA Meteor AAMs, AIM-120Bs and
ASRAAMs, alongside the Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
Regards,
Zhou Kun
