1/72 Spitfire models - The Canadians

Gallery Article by Graham Mansell on Apr 29 2011

The two models above have been in the built category for several years, the 417 Sqn. bird (desert cam) is Hasegawa, and the Mk XIV is the Academy kit, both OOB. Now with all the new Spit kits on the market, I have a plan, to build all the Marks of the Spit with emphasis on Canadian Sqns., including the Seafire, Sea Fang and Spiteful. Below are some pics of the first two completed in this plan.

There is now a production line going, as you can see below. The two completed kits, then a Mk XI, also Hasegawa to be done in 400 Sqn. markings (about 90% done), then a Mk IX Hasegawa, modded to and early version (added fuel cooler, gun camera, changed horizontal stabs to early configuration, will be adding the IFF wires from tail planes to fuse) with markings for 402 Sqn. bird flown by Ian Keltie, next another Hase kit but modded to a Mk XVI using the cut down fuse from a Fujimi Mk XIV in 443 Sqn. markings, and facing these is a Fujimi FR Mk XIV to be finished using Aviaeolgy's decal set.

Each time I finish one of these birds I post a build article here, with any and all mods done to the kit.

Thanks for having a look.
