This is my first attempt at a model on a base. I had the Blue Angels patch for years and I have finally been able to put it to use. The last time I did any wood work was in high school shop class so a guy from work helped me with the white oak wood base. I stained the egg shaped wood base white. I knew that I was not going to use the landing gear on this model so I filled in where the landing gear would get attached. The pilot did have an oxygen mask molded in but I removed it and scratch built the microphone with painted brass rod that I had laying around. There are no aftermarket parts for this kit that I know of.

I left the model glossy, it is the Blue Angels show plane after all. I used the internet as a resource to figure out what number I was going to use on the aircraft. Since I did not use the landing gear the "arrow" decal in the kit had sections left out for the landing gear. I had to fill in those spots with pieces of other decals that I did not use.
I have a rather extensive history with the Blue Angels so I am glad this one turned out pretty good (to me).
