Australia Day

This is the Italeri 1/48 Scale A-4E Skyhawk depicted as a Royal Australian Navy A-4G in the very cool looking 2 tone camouflage worn until their retirement from the fleet air arm in the early 1980's...

It's depicted with a load of 2 AIM-9's, underwing fuel tanks - and a motherload of iron dumb bombs underneath... I don't know if its an entirely realistic RAN loadout, but I'm not really a rivet counter :-D (It looks great - and I'm sure the mighty Scooter could do it!)

This particular airframe soldiered on in the RNZAF as an upgraded A-4K "Kahu", and was tragically lost with its pilot, SQNLDR Murray Neilson whilst performing aerobatics at Nowra, NSW in 2001.

Happy modelling from Australia!
