Was trying to decide which paint scheme to do when I dropped one of my old Tomcats while cleaning it. It broke in half and I still have yet to find the front landing gear. Kind of helped decide the VF-41 Su killer was getting a re-do.

The past model used "detail and scale" decals which had "browned" badly over the years. I had a nice new set of Steel Beach decals which had a few advantages. One the correct "wrong" American markings and the simple fact.....I had them in hand. The kit I used was one of the ones Hasegawa put out to drive modellers insane. Horrible gaps needing putty and a wrestling match with every turn. Only thing that went well was the intakes which are normally the hardest part of their Tomcats.

Also the kit was short clear parts and had the wrong boat tail and tail fins. I ripped them off the trashed kit, repaired the main canopy with card and glued it all together. Even a trashed kit can come together with enough work. Included is a Christmas ornament of the partner airframe to this model.
