1/72 Hobby Boss T6G Texan

I was always very impressed by the intimidating aspect of the T6G Texan used by the French's EALA 5/72 Unit in the Algerian War. When I bought the Hobby Boss 1/72 (#80233), I decided to build that version.

The Hobby Boss's T6 is really nicely moulded, but it lacks some interior details, like control panels, control sticks and mainly the characteristic anti-roll bar of the T6. So, I built those details from scratch.

I painted and finished the kit applying the hair spray method, to  get a somewhat marked weathering.

The other important pieces I home-made were the decals. I used a really good Software Vector Graphics (http://www.inkscape.org/) programme to re-create the rather intrincated pattern. I printed over Testors white and clear inkjet decal paper. The decals reacted quite well to Humbrol Solvaset solution.

Finally, I added and adapted the HVAR rockets from the spare box, and scratch built the machine guns pods. The aerials were made with stretched plastic.

I'm very happy with the results, but perhaps I should had worked a little more with the black part of the design. I found a true photograph of this beast a little too late... (
