For the first time in more than 25 years I’ve built a 1/48th scale model. I got this model as a Kris-Kringle present from a friend last Christmas and I decided to build it, despite not being my preferred scale (1/72nd the True Scale :) )

This new tooling Airfix kit is really nice. Excellent details with fine and crisp engraved panel lines. The overall fit is outstanding and I barely have used putty.

The model was done Out of the Box except for the seat belts I scratch built using aluminium foil.

I also have used the decals provided, in this case it is for a plane flown by South Australian Flt Lieutenant Donald Smith (RAAF), Sussex, England 1943.

Overall painted using Tamiya acrylics. Weathered using a combination of Tamiya Accent Panel washes, Dry Pastel Chalks, Pigments and Watercolour Pencils.
