The Beaufighter was a development of the Bristol Beaufort. This rugged aircraft made quite an impression on its foes and the Japanese used to call it Whistling death. Tamiya's Beaufighter is a simple kit. Not much to go wrong with this one. Detail is good and construction is very easy. Fit was pretty good although I had a little tension at some locations but nothing serious.

I added just a little bit of extras to the interior. The cockpit being all but closed doesn't allow a good view of the interior anyway. Externally nothing was needed in my opinion although the exhausts aren't really that accurate.

Painting was made easy by dividing the kit in to a number of subassemblies. I used Vallejo colours that match my idea of the real thing close enough. The preshade worked perfectly on this kit and for chipping I just touched up a bit with slightly lightened base colours. Looks convincing to me.
