A few years back I was visiting Tintagel Castle in the UK when some folks got into trouble at the bottom of the cliff and a rescue operation was launched with the RNLI and RAF. Soon the RAF Rescue helicopter was on site and the extraction process had begun. Quite the sight to be able to look down on the operation from the top of the cliff and see the helo hovering over the waves and very close to the cliff face (picture #4)! I finally got around to modelling that helicopter.

I used the Hasegawa kit (which although boxed as the HAR 3 still needs a fair bit of surgery to make it work), the Eduard cockpit interior set (FE 516) and the Flightpath HAR.3 Conversion Set (includes interior fittings, crew entry steps, the sand filter and just about everything you can think of!

I added a few extra details like the handholds around the windows, some equipment on the interior, EZ-line rigging for the exterior antenna and handrails at the steps, and some Grief lenses for the searchlights.

Finished with Model Master acrylic Chrome Yellow and oils (burnt sienna and raw umber) to build up some exhaust staining.
