1/72 Hobbyboss Gloster Gladiator

Another Easy Assembly kit, this, and a very welcome return to biplanes for me. This is one of Hobbyboss's better products - even the decals were good except for the yellow being a bit pale. Only thing I changed was the underwing gun barrels which were huge in comparison to the nicely moulded fuselage examples.

As a new generation of biplane kit I have to say it went together a treat. Compared to the newish Airfix product, it's probably a bit clunker: engine and cowling all in one piece, for example, and cockpit detail being almost non-existent. Most difficult part of assembly was the rigging: from rolled wire.

Re-fuelling truck is the excellent old Airfix kit with additions like cab windows and flexible hose pipes each side. The car is very ancient resin from a manufacturer I can now no longer recall.

Aircraftsmen are actually Preiser Luftwaffe items; pilot figure is from the Frog Gloster Whittle; officer by car is a survivor of the Airfix Bloodhound kit.

The base is scrap insulation, grass is tea. All paints were Tamiya acylics, washes and drybrushing were from tubed acrylics.
