This is my CAG-Bird Tomcat from VF-32 “Swordsman” aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) as it looks like during Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.

I built this kit straight out of the box, except the following details:

I used

  • Black Box Cockpit Set (Item #48047)
  • Aeromaster Decal Set #48-532
  • Hasegawa Weapon Sets B and C

My F-14A has the standard weapon loadout for fleet defense with four Phoenix (AIM-54A), two Sparrow (AIM-7M) and two Sidewinder (AIM-9M) Missiles.

The building of this bird was Hasegawa-like: Many pieces and very much work in sanding and filling, but for me Hasegawa is the best company for 1/48 F-14 Kits. This was my first Black-Box Cockpit, it was a hard work to fit the cockpit into my F-14, but for my next aircraft I will use also a Black Box Cockpit because the result is very good, I think.

I used Gunze Sangyo acrylic paints with a aztek airbrush. I have photos of this Aircraft and they said to me, washing is not required.

I hope you all like my Tomcat.

Gerald
