This is my first submission to AFC and it is my favourite aircraft, the F-14A tomcat of VF-111 "Sundowners". This kit is the 1/48 version from Hasegawa. A lot has already been said about this kit and it is true! There are many fit problems, but I could not find a better detailed kit in this scale. It was built straight from the box and to enhance the details I added PE parts for the canopy and used a mixture of kit and Aeromaster decals. There are no missiles included in the kit so I added some of my own from my spares box. It took a period of three weeks for me to build it and I enjoyed the end result. I hope you do to.

The base of the model was built from an mdf panel with the edges routed off.  I masked off the runway markings and painted the base with gunmetal enamel from Humbrol.  I then drilled out some holes for tie-downs, covered them and painted a lighter colour.  I then sprayed on the runway marking, and finished the edges of the base in dark wood varnish.
