1/48 Hasegawa CF-18 "Balkan Rat"

This recently finished model is number 11 on my list of CF-18 models built for the pilots that fly them. I've been doing this for several years now, and have enjoyed many side benefits from this. The CF-18, to me, is the finest looking fighter on the planet. Some may get tired of doing the same subject over and over. But I've never encountered that. I constantly look forward to my next Hornet model.

This model depicts a jet that took part in "Operation Allied Force" in 1999. I built this model for a pilot friend that took part in that campaign. He flew several missions in support of this NATO operation which resulted in the removal of an evil dictator.

This came to be the standard weapons load for the Canadian jets in this war. Three external fuel tanks, 2 GBU-10's, FLIR pod, 1 Aim-7 sparrow, and finally 2 Aim-9 Sidewinders on the wing tips. These are all Hasegawa weapons. The tanks and the FLIR pod came from the kit. The model itself is built OOB. I rarely add any aftermarket parts to my projects. The decals are from Leading Edge. I built the base out of MDF plywood and used clear plastic rod for the post. The attachment is made with square brass tubing into the aircraft. The patch is a real patch from the campaign.

I hope you enjoy this 'Balkan Rat' CF-18. Feel free to ask me any questions about this Canadian Hornet. You can see more of my models and adventures at my website:
