MiG-21UM in Finnish markings

This is my latest MiG-21: Academy’s MiG-21PF converted into a MiG-21UM two-seater using the Neomega resin set.

The conversion was, for the most part, straightforward. The placement of the cockpit parts was a bit unclear and there is some misalignment on the finished model. Oh well.

The cockpit was painted with Floquil’s NYC Jade Green. The exterior of the model was painted with Tamiya acrylics that I mixed based on photos of Finnish MiGs. The roundels are from Galdecal and are actually for a 1/72 Draken. They worked just fine for me though.

The crouching cat on the tail was drawn in Photoshop and printed onto decal paper with my inkjet printer. This was the first time I’d tried this and I’m really happy with how it turned out Finally, the model was weathered with pastels.

I’d been wanting to build this model for a long time and am really happy with the final results.
