This model is
Revell's F-14D Tomcat, that has been backdated to resemble the F-14A that was
flown by VF-31 from the deck of the USS Forrestal in 1989.

The model wears 178
decals from 3 separate sheets to complete the look, one for the general
markings, one for the VF-31 markings, and one for the ship's and pilot's names.
It also has Verlinden's Remove Before Flight tags attached at various
points.
The ejection seat
rip-cords are scratchbuilt and hand painted to return them to F-14A specs, and
finally the model was weathered with dark pastels.

The model took about 3 months to
complete, and was given as a Christmas gift to a friend, who served in the Navy
on the USS Forrestal in 1989, and worked with these planes everyday.
