I always liked the
A-37 Dragonflys. So I decided to get two done in a span of 2 weeks between
getting them done. The kits are reboxed versions of the Classic Monogram mould.
I decided to get this project done as a break from my usual Royal Malaysian Air
Force subjects. I built both kits mainly OOB only the decals from
Aztec Latin Eagles series and I also made seatbelts from foil. Judging from
the sub assemblies on the sheet I thought it would be a nightmare...but I
had no problems and everything went well with minimum filler needed on both
examples.

The only point to watch on
building these kits are they are heavy tail sitters. So please ensure that loads
of weight is in place. I tackled this with solder melted into small nuggets and
this worked well. I airbrushed the colours freehand on both examples but had
loads of problems with the Dominican version as there was not good reference -
Thanks Habu who helped out here......The paints used were gunze acrylics.....Decals
were good from Aztec.......but I managed to loose a few in the process of
decalling to gloss coating.......on the Dominican version...I had to reprint my
own replacements namely the national insignias.....and sharkmouth.....all in
all.......it worked out ok I guess.
I wanted to show these aircrafts
as used as most reference I saw did not show them in pristine condition. So I
attacked both of them with weathering ......to show some sun beating and paint
chipping with a silver pen........and various stains airbrushed on. Overall I
enjoyed building both these Dragonfly's. Hope you enjoyed my "Latin
Eagles". I would also like to thank all the ARC regulars who helped
me to make these birds.......much obliged......
