This is my 1/48 Revell F-18C Hornet.  This model was made OOB, kit decals were not used as they cracked, spare F-18 decals were used.  As its unusual designation indicates the F/A -18 Hornet is equally capable of performing both the air-to-air fighter and air-to-ground attack missions. This multi-role combat aircraft is now one of the most important weapon system  in America's arsenal of defence.

Originally developed from YF-17 , the F/A-18A single-seat version and the F/A-18B two-seat variant became the first Hornets to reach  operational service.  F/A-18D also a two-seater is in service with the Marines and is the F/A-18C has now equips most of the front line fighter/attack squadrons  in both Navy & Marines.  This version has been produced in greater number than any other Hornet variant.

The versatility of the F/A-18C was demonstrated on January 17,1991, during the opening hours of Operation Desert Storm.  As two Hornets prepared to attack Iraqi airfield  with Mk 84, 2,000-pound bombs, they were attacked by two Iraqi MiG-21 Fishbeds.  One MiG was destroyed by AIM-9 Sidewinder & the other by AIM-7 Sparrow missile, thus retaining their Bombs for the airfield after destroying the two Fishbeds.

Testor paints were used ,top-side was painted Dark Ghost Grey FS 36320
& the bottom Light Ghost Grey FS 36375,hope you like my model.
