This Special Hobby kit was enhanced through applying a scratch built wing fold. The work was inspired by Allan Yee's 1/72 Frog Barracuda that also appeared in this site. With the aid of his technical drawings and constructive criticism I was able to track down the intricate mechanism of the unique grasshopper shape wing fold.

The scratch building was the fun part of modeling. Building the model was a chore and took longer than the former. The model is poorly designed, has many engineering flaws and certainly does not justify its high retail price. Bottom line, the Fairey Barracuda will be a pleasing addition to your FAA collection if you acquire it at a bargain price.
