Revell's F-15E kit is a beautiful kit, but the options are very limited. You can only build it in three different schemes, standard USAF gunship gray scheme, F-15S scheme (which is another gray) and the F-15I Israeli desert camouflage. I choose naturally the third option naturally when I decided to build another F-15E kit.

I used the Aires cockpit set in this model, and it was very hard to fit. I think that the resin set is designed for another model, it requires a lot of sanding, and stretching of the forward fuselage. I did not use a photoetched detail set because the kit does not require much detailing on the airframe.

The conversion required adding turkey feathers to the exhaust, I used leftover photoetched pieces from a Hasegawa F-15J kit to do it.

Other modifications required to convert the F-15E kit to the I version are:

  • -Cockpit is painted black

  • -The grille on the forward fuselage right side (near to the aft pilot) was filled.

  • -GPS dome has been added to the fuselage. (The black dot)

  • -The thick antenna on the tail was modified to the thin anti flutter weight using shaped styrene rod.

  • -Forward fuselage pylons were reshaped.

I dropped the ailerons to replicate the natural look of parked strike eagles.

Gunze MrColors and a Badger 200 has been used to paint the model I did not like the tone of the recommended green color (duck egg green) and added some other greens and whites to make the tone appear like the photos. Decals are from Isradecal.
