While at the Squadron.com Open House this past summer I picked up literally dozens of little Revell Mini-kits and Easy-kits, the Mini-kits were about a quarter each, and the Easy-kits under $2. These are all pre-painted, snap-together, box-scale kits. The Mini-kits are all about 2" long, the Easy-kits (of which I ended up using only one) is about 5" long, maybe about 1:100 scale. They sat in a big box in the closet until this past weekend when I pulled them out and, in one session, put together about 40 of the little suckers.
I picked up a $5 plastic tree at
Hobby Lobby (half-off!), a 50 cent string of lights and a couple $$ worth of
tinsel, little ball ornaments etc, and proceeded to hang the models on the tree
as ornaments. Well, the planes weren't very visible just hanging there, so I
almost canned the whole project. Shortly after this picture I
managed to trip over the power cord for the lights, tipping the tree over and
knocking all the ornaments off the tree and many of the models off their new
display bases. I wanted to put a
(Blue) Angel on top of the tree, but had to settle for this Thunderbird. Well
there it is, "Operation Evergreen" - what do you think?
