The Hawker Fury
traces its origins back to when a German Fw-190A-3, landed mistakenly at RAF
Pembrey during WW2. In 1949-50 Royal Pakistani Air Force (RPAF) purchased 93
single seat Fury fighters plus 5 two-seat trainers. 86 of these fighters were
the newly built Mk.60s , 5 were ex-FAA Mk 11s and one was the fourth Fury
prototype NX802. The Mk.61 two-seat trainers were new builds. The Fury was
considered to be an excellent platform for COIN operations and was used to quell
a rebellion in North West Frontier Province. The No.9 "Griffins" were
the last squadron to switch from the Hawker Fury over to the F-104A "Starfighters".
The Furies were retired in 1963 after which some spent their last years as
spotter planes for the Bristol Freighters in locust extermination flights.

The kit here is a reboxed
Hobbycraft kit with its distinctive trench like panel lines. To do a de-navalised
version, I did not attach the arrester hook that comes along with the kit. Brass
tubing was used in the gun ports and pitot tube.
Some minor detailing was done in
the gear wells. The decals were custom made by Kedi-decals and settled really
well with Mark Softer. Exhaust soot was replicated using black chalk dust.
Happy modelling,
Haroon
