The Kit
P 10

Verlinden Aces II Ejection Seat 0062
Construction
This kit was built OOB apart from the ejection seat, I started this kit back in 2002 along with many others. The kit went together quite well with little putty and sanding. I think that worst part of the kit to construct was the nose/ cockpit area manly in joining the forward part of the fuselage with the aft. I find kits that construct this way i.e Tomcat and Hornet a pain in the back side. Its a constant week spot as I found out with this particular kit. I ended up braking the nose section off three times during construction each time I had to putty and sand out the join / seam lines, and once the intakes have be placed onto the kit getting rid of the seems lines in the forward aft is quite hard. Other than that, the kit was a joy to build. I then airbrushed the entire kit in FS36375, and that was that it sat in its box for three years while I took a brake from building models. 2005 I was back into constructing kits again and with ma ny other kits started back in 2002 this one had yet to be finished. When I opened the box, I found a half painted F-15 that was needing its cammo colour applied. So I pick up were I left off, but doing the camo on the F-15 turned out to be quite hard and I ended up making a complete mess of the kit. So out came the trusty oven cleaner on off went the paint. However I broke off the tails and the vertical stabilizers in the proses which did become a bit of a drama down the track.
Painting
With the kit now striped of its paint, tails and stabilizers it was time to have another crack at the paint scheme. I painted most of the kit in FS36375 and once dry, I masked off were the cammo was to be placed and airbrushed the cammo with FS36320, this time the airbrushing turned out to be a success. With the airbrushing completed I could now add the finishing touches
Finishing Touches
It was now time to reattach the tails, I found that once a kit has been painted spilling any glue on the paint can have disastrous effects. So I spartanly used glue to reattach the tails however I found on two occasions I broke the tails off due to not enough glue. But once I over came the issue with the tails it was time to add the decals. The decals are that off what was supplied with the kit. It took three days to place 90% of the decals onto the kit, once I had placed the decals on it was time to cover the kit in a gloss cote. When the gloss cote was dry it was time for the dirt and grime, with the pastel wash and sealed in a dull cote. Now that the kit was nearly finished it was time to add the ordnance, drop tanks and cockpit window, and that was it another kit is finished. This F-15C was built to represent that of USAF 1st TFW Commander's Aircraft 1982. Alan
