In continuation of
my Soviet era 1/48 scale models, here is my (non conventionally camo'd )
Hind 'D' in Indian Air Force colors. I have always doubted the combat
effectiveness the regular Camo of Hinds i.e. the clover leaf pattern as I felt
that they were attractive at air shows, but marginal in actual, terrain-hugging
anti-tank warfare. So I decided to paint my Hind (model master paints) with a
patchy three-green and one tan camo pattern. As can be seen, it looks pretty
unusual.

The kit was a bit of
a nightmare as the holes for the engine exhausts were much larger than the
nozzles which meant that I had to plug the openings by using strips of plastic
and then putty on the inner fuselage, then inserting the nozzles and then
levelling the fuselage/nozzle join. Thank God for putty and crazy glue!
I
also closed the infantry doors and tinted the windows. The kit took more
than a week to assemble and paint.
