This is my first article, so please be kind.  I know there are a ton of VF-84 Tomcats out there but I couldn’t help myself after seeing some outstanding examples on this website.  I won’t go into detail about the kit, it wasn’t that bad.  I have been working on this one since December; most of the time was spent looking for the decals.  I built this one straight out of the box.

I like displaying my models in flight.  I have always thought that plane are meant to be airborne, the other part is pure laziness.  This was the first time I experimented with weathering.  I used pastel chalk and soap, even my wife got into helping me clean off the plane.  I bought the helmet off of ebay brand new for about a $100, and the mask for about $80.  The helmet was just plain white, so with just a little paint and some time on the computer designing decals for it, and it was done.  I work in an F-16 fighter squadron, so I have been taking a lot of flak for building a Navy jet, but its great looking anyways!
