Revell 1/72 F-16 is definitely the best F-16 model in this scale so far. It has its shortcomings but overall quality is outstanding. Indonesia has 12 F-16A/B Block 15OCU which more or less captured in Revell’s F-16A MLU boxing. Of course there are some MLU features that must be discarded.

I received a call one day telling me to help providing an Indonesian AF F-16 diorama for the Squadron Commander. The time was 2 weeks. Busy with my regular job, I finally found a friend who willing to sell a built Revell F-16A to me. Thank God!

I striped-off its paint and decals then repainted it in TNI AU color. I used Model Master Fulcrum Grey and Humbrol Russian Green for the F-16's Millenium scheme. The grey was too light actually but still looks OK.

Finished the aircraft model in about 3 days, it was time to build the base and equipments. I used Tamiya’s 0.5mm Pla-plate for the base, painted using several light grey colors from Tamiya acrylic paint range.

The ground equipments and figures were Hasegawa’s. I picked and used some of them that look close enough to the original.

 

I managed to finish the diorama in exactly 2 weeks time. Phieeew !

 

It was a great time when I know that the diorama received high appreciation both from the Commander himself and all the members of the Squadron. I also found myself as an honoured guest when I was invited to visit the Squadron last July...
