1/48 Tamiya P-47 Thunderbolt

Hi everyone. This is my second submission onto this great website. I usually enjoy the larger aircraft, 1/32 scale normally, but they take up so much room, so I decided to have a bash at this 1/48 Tamiya P-47. Nothing really unusual about this model - totally OOB.

I really enjoyed the weathering of this model. I wanted the plane to look as though it had been in several battles, so I added several scrapes and scratches to it, along with some slight surface rust. I used ochre brown watercolour to simulate rust, which I think turned out pretty good. For the scratches, I just used a Tamiya flat aluminium. I was especially pleased with the decals, I think they turned out superbly. I used Future furniture polish as the initial coat, then applied the decals, then another coat of Future, and finally a coat of Humbrol flat spray, which was very good. They look as if though they were painted on, the way there are meant to! I used a black watercolour to fill in panel lines.

I would highly recommend this model to anyone, as I would any Tamiya model.
