This is Hasegawa's 1/200 MD-11. It's built OOB. The kit goes together very well with minimal filler required. Hasegawa even includes a "weight" for the nose. Not trusting their plastic weight I added a few BB's. It was more than enough. Paint is PollyScale acrylics. The top is painted VVS Russian underside blue. It's a pretty good match to the KLM blue.
The windscreen was painted before the fuse window decal stripes (yes, I live dangerously). It was masked with Tamiya tape then painted with flat black acrylic craft paint. The windscreen frames were done with a Prismacolor silver pencil and a steady hand. The stainless steel lips on the engine intakes were also done with the Prismacolor pencil. Decals were a challenge due to their age and the difficulty to get the side stripes straight then entire length of the fuse. Lots of water and a ton of patience helps. Everything is sealed with a coat of PolyScale clear gloss. Then the gear is attached and there you have it; a McDonnell Douglas tri-jet in beautiful KLM colors. Jeff
