Utilising both Star Fleet Federation technology and Romulan Empire equipment, Santa's elves, being related distantly to Vulcans, were able to make Santa an efficient and logical mode of transport. Using warp engines allows Santa to achieve delivery to the most far-flung children's home, yet the small size of the warp-sleigh allows Santa to avoid the Borg-Grinch. Beaming down presents also gets around the thorny and long standing problem of a lack of fireplaces in the 25th century!
