Using proven technology in both the jet field AND dive bombing, the SMD-5 exhibits a lack of range AND maneuverablity.  A two man crew allows for dive bombing whilst keeping the tail covered during torpedo runs as well.  The aircraft can carry both bombs and torpedoes at the same time, allowing multiple targets to be attacked.  Unfortunately, only the pilot is afforded an ejection seat. Two .50 cal nose guns round out the SMD-5s offensive ability.
