1/32 Hasegawa Fw-190

This is one of my favourite models.  It is the old Hasegawa kit which can turn into a magnificent model with some extra work. This particular kit is mainly built out of the box, since no aftermarket resin or photoetched parts were used during the construction.  The improvements were made using plastic sheet, solder and copper wire, stretched sprue etc, according to the plans of the actual aircraft found on the Internet.  The extras concern the engine compartment, the machine guns, the cockpit, the radio compartment behind the cockpit (sctratchbuilt) and the landing gear.

The photos above concern the engine and machine-guns compartment.  The improvements are quite visible!

An overall photo of the model is directly below.  The Hasegawa kit is really great!?

The model was painted exclusively with acrylic (Tamiya and Gunze) paints while the cockpit was painted with Humbrol enamels.  The wash and the drybrushing were made with Humbrol enamels.  Furthermore, pastel chalks were used for the areas behind the engine and the landing gear compartment.

The paintwork depicts an Fw-190 in the eastern winter camouflage (Russian front).  The Hasegawa kit had an almost perfect fit and no filler was used!  It's only flaw concerns the depth of the landing gear compartment which is rather shallow.
