1/48 Monogram Spitfire Mk IX

I am a glutton for punishment, or so my fellow club members tell me.  This is a 1967 issue of the good ole' Spit.  It is pretty much OOB with the exception of the Squadron canopy and SuperScale Decals.  It represents Lt. Robert Conner's Mk. IX in Italy, 1944 of the 309th FS.

The panel lines were all rescribed and the control surfaces were sanded thin.  I used stretched sprue for the wires and MM enamels brushed on, as I have no airbrush yet.  The base is a block of pine with the instructions glued on and a brass rod inserted to hold the model.  Weathering is with pastel chalks and black tempera paint.  Thanks to my friends at the FWSM club for the help.

I know there are many inaccuracies with this kit, but it is older than I am and I love rebuilding the kits from my youth.  Enjoy!
