I would like to build an
original version of a Spitfire, the most beautiful fighter of the WW2 in my
opinion. I bought the Tamiya MkVb Trop. version and I found a set
of decals with a colourful version for a SAAF plane. The center of the
cocards are not red than British cocards but orange (If someone have some
explanations?)! It's the originality of the model. The plane was in
service in Sicilia with the 40 squadron of the SAAF during summer 1943.

This plane
has the Aboukir filter, I prefer this equipment than the Vokes model too
big for the pure lines of the Spitfire. Only Eduard seatbelts were used,
the kit was assembled out from the box.
The kit was painted with acrilyc
Aeromaster paints (RAF mediteranean blue ref.1121, RAF midstone ref.1115 and
RAF dark earth ref.1110) and a pilot from the Brewster Buffalo Tamiya's kit
was added.
Best Regards and happy modelling.
