This is my completed
Academy 1/72 Bf-109 G6. It was done mid 2006 as part of a group build
title "Just build anything, damnit!" amongst a few of my fellow
modellers. The purpose of the GB was to provide an alternate distraction
to the many stalled WIP and to relieve any AMS. :)
The kit was recommended by my
fellow modeller Kwek. The kit builds up without any major problem with
only some minor inaccurancies here and there. It may not score high marks
in the accuracy department but to my eye, on overall the kit builds into a
nice Bf-109 :) You can read a review about this kit at Scale Model
Aircraft Kit Reviews.

The kit is done almost
OOB with
addition of the fuel cable in the cockpit. The seat belt is made from
Tamiya tape and painted accordingly.
For painting, Vallejo model
air was used. The only exception is Mr gloss coat during the decal
process. The paint scheme I chose is that for white 9 Bf-109G6/R6 Trop,
7/JG, flown by Uffz. Georg Amon. I took some liberty with the yellow tail
and fuselage band which should be white as I think it looked better.:)
Panel lines have been
accentuated with Tamiya enamel. Final weathering is done with pastel.
Paint chipping is done with a silver Prismatic colour pencil.
After this kit, I
went and got myself a Mustang, STUKA and Corsair all in 1/72.....different for
me considering I work
with 1/48 normally!
