This is ZD-F,
"F for Freddie", Spitfire Mk Vb which was flown by the CO of No
222 Sqdn during the winter 1941/1942. It represents the color photo
from the Merlin-engined Spitifre article in
"Wings of Fame", Vol 9, 1997. The colors are unusual in
that the ailerons, top cowling, and right wingtip are mismatched.
There appears to be a lot of overpaint showing in the photo of the real
aircraft, and weathering. It looks quite scruffy, despite it being
the CO's personal aircraft.

It was an enjoyable build,
the only snag being the propeller spinner which had to be re-engineered
because of the incorrect parts breakdown. The kit spinner (modified) and
prop are shown. I used elevators from Ultracast and drooped them as
you would normally find on a parked Spitfire.
Paints
were Testors Polly-Scale acrylic, done with brush and Q-tip.
