Found
this F-105D Thunderchief from Monogram/Revell in 1/72 scale as a bargain
in a supermarket. Having always liked the sleek lines of the
"Thud", I was very happy to have found it. I built it basically
out of the box, adding only an AGM-45 Shrike missile from the Italeri A-7E
and an AN/ALQ pod from one of the Hasegawa weapons set. Decals are mainly
from the kit and of good quality. I added some stencil data from a
Superscale F-105G sheet though, as the decal sheet provided in the kit is
not that extensive. The fuselage detail is great - with very fine raised panel lines and other details molded on. I did not rescribe any of the panel lines, in order not to lose the other relief detail which is really good, but choose to do a white priming of the complete jet followed by a pre-shading with black on all the main panel lines instead, which would show through the camo pattern later and highlight the panel lines and other relief detail subtly. The aircraft was airbrushed free-hand in standard SEA colours using Humbrol enamels.Patrick
