Eventually, The European NATO countries decided that they needed their own AWACS aircraft. Since there was money for only 2 aircraft, every piece of electronic surveillance ever invented had to fit inside, so they needed a BIG aircraft. Well, for once, they had one ready for use. An A380 was modified with equipment from an A-3, and from the Atlantic, and from the ASTOR, and so on... Equipped with officers and enlisted crew rest area, a movie theater, plus a big galley with many kitchen sinks. Click on images below to see larger images I used the Revell A380 1/144 kit, plus the antenna and most of the decals from the Revell 1/144 AWACS kit. A half 1/32 Tornado fuel tank was used for the top radome, and a dive into the spare part bin for the other antennas. Painted with a custom mix of 2-3 Tamiya greys, and the panel lines re-done with a 2H lead pencil. Quite a beast to hold while painting and detailling. Killroytech
