This is my USCG MH-60J Jayhawk.

The Italeri 1/72 HH-60H Rescuehawk kit was used, along with Fireball Modelworks excellent HH-60J resin conversion set which includes a superb decal sheet.

I made some additional changes to the kit as well.

  • The starboard side pilot door was opened up.

  • SAR gear, avionix equipment rack, and a M-60 machinegun were added to the interior.

  • Top and bottom anti-collision strobes were formed by turning clear sprue in a Dremel Tool.

  • Various anntenas and other small details were also added.

You can use the Italeri HH-60H or Hasegawa SH-60 kits to build this Jayhawk. The Fireball Modelworks set includes parts for both.

I chose the Italeri kit because the port side sliding cabin windows was already in place, so less "plastic surgery" was involved.

My next project will be a 1/72 USN HH-60H Rescuehawk, again using the Italeri kit and Fireball Modelworks conversion set.
