Having been up close and personal witth Luftwaffe F-104s, I was awed by the beautiful smooth finish.  I bought the Hasegawa 1/48 F-104G.  I was supremely disappointed with the rivets and amount of recessed panel lines that I never saw on the real thing.  I did like the wonderfully detailed parts.  I used the Mongram kit and replaced almost all of the smaller bits with the Hasegawa parts.  The Cutting Edge cockpit literally dropped in and fit almost perfectly in the Mongram fuselage.  The Eduard PE cockpit set provided the finishing touches.
