This is my third Mig-29, but my first in the 1/48th scale. My first was a UB that I built when I was about 12. It was the first time I had ever used spray paint! My second was a Fulcrum A and it was the first time I had ever used a wash. So what was new about this one? Not a whole lot really, but I did use a lot of brass on the outside. If you are building a 1/48th Fulcrum do yourself a favor and pick up the Eduard walkways and ladder set, they make the model! I also used some Eagle Strike decals to complete this bird in a Russian scheme. These particular Fulcrums had shark mouths on them and the Eagle Strike instructions actually come with a nice back story on each plane, which I think is really cool.
So I took a break from Phantoms for a while, but absence makes the heart grow fonder, and I will get back to those soon. But that being said I really enjoyed this build. The Academy kit has strong points and weaknesses, it would be nice if Hasegawa or Tamiya came out with a version, but until then the Academy kit is your best bet. Happy building!
