This
is the old Monogram P-51B Ding Hao 1/48 kit. It's a very nice kit, but it comes
with raised panel lines, so I had to re-scribe them all. I had to make a lot of
modifications on this kit. Some of them are:
-
Cut
off the flaps to reposition them down.
-
Re-scribe
all panel lines.
-
I
modified the cockpit radio.
-
Scratch
made seat belts.
-
I
cut the canopy in six parts, because it comes to leave it closed.
-
The
shocks from landing gear were replaced for hypodermic needles as well as the
cannons.

I
painted the model with Model Master paints, using pre-shading and
post-shading techniques. For the upper side I used a mix of Olive Drab,
Military Brown and some drops of Black and Red. The lower fuselage
was painted with Neutral Grey. I decided to use the kit's decals to make
the Ding Hao version. Weathering was made with acrylic washes, and with
chalk pastels to represent smoke.
Hope
you enjoy it.
