1/48 Hobbycraft RCN Seafire XV

--------------------

This is the Hobbycraft 1/48 Seafire.  It was originally in the Far East boxing but I used Belcher Bits decals to create a RCN machine from 1949.  Due to the EXTREME lack of detail with Hobbycraft kits I ended up using the cockpit, landing gear and canopy from a Tamiya MkVb I had laying around.  I also scratch built the wing folds, but I didn't have many good references so I left them a little on the sparse side

This was my first real attempt at creating exhaust stains and I used a mix of Tamiya weathering pastels and Tamiya smoke and my first attempt at pre-shading; Both which I think turned out pretty nice looking.  It is also the first model that I have actually finished in nearly 5 years so its a great milestone for me, as I actually have the drive to finish the other 14 I have on the go.

Knowing what I started with I think I managed to make a half decent looking model. There are a few inaccuracies and a few mistakes, but from 3 feet away it looks like a Seafire.

Thanks for looking,

Sean
