Hello, This is my first submission, I am 25 years old have I have been building models since I was young. I visit ARC every day to see the great models. This is my recently completed AC-47 Gunship. I got it cheap at a small store in Idaho about a year ago. I wanted to try out some new tricks on this kit and I really had a good time building it. Interior construction was pretty simple. Not much of it is seen, but it was detailed enough. I cut out and repositioned the rudder and elevators, which was a new experience for me. I also built new flaps and built new cowl flaps, all in the open position. The last things I detailed were the wheel wells. Click on images below to see larger images I also used putty for the first time to fill in the seams. I had to use quite a lot of it too. Mainly around the wing root areas. Thanks to the article in the "tools and tips" section about filling with out sandpaper! That was a huge help. Painting was pretty straight forward. The olive drab and black colors came from Testors spray cans and the tan and dark green colors came from Krylon spray cans. I used blue tac and masking tape to mask the different colors. Other details were painted by hand. I weathered the plane using some old weathering powders I ordered from a model railroad magazine when I was younger. I do not remember what brand they are. After the decals went on with quite a bit of softener I sprayed on a few coats of Testors dull coat and added all of the remaining details like the antennas and props and removed the window masks and added the gattling guns.
This was a great project and I learned a lot from it that I look forward to applying to future models. Sorry for the lower quality photos. Brett
