Cavalier is a company out of Australia. They have a very limited product range, but what they do have.....has impressed me. They have two 1/48 engine sets that I'm aware of....one for the 1/48 Hasegawa Bf-109's and one for a 1/48 Tamiya Fw 190 F8. But lets have a look at this set. The set is cast in a slightly soft injected resin with no visible air bubbles in the resin. The molding is crisp and detail is quite good....as good or better than Aires. I did not do any sample fitting of the parts due to the extensive cutting involved in such test fitting, so I can't accurately comment on fit. But I must say the detail of the set's parts is very impressive....as seen by the pictures below. There is no hinge part for displaying the cowls in the open position on the model, so these cowls can be laid on the ground or a piece of plastic scratch built to secure these cowls to the engine in the open position. The boxart shows a picture of a finished model with the set installed. There are many tiny details that impressed me in this set....such as the fins on the air cooled cylinder heads. This set is very complex, but the finished result would be well worth the effort. The details on all the pieces is simply beautiful and very well done. I'm pleased I bought this set for an upcoming project as I feel it is an excellent set.
This review set was purchased from North American Hobbies.
