1/72 Azur Martin 167 Maryland

Just opened a new package from NKR, and inside were a pair of the new Azur Martin 167 Marylands. Wow! MPM's tooling just gets better release on release- this is just about the best scribing I have *ever* seen on a 72nd model, and that includes Tamiya

or Hasegawa. Imagine the depth of Hasegawa's with the sharpness of Tamiya's and you're somewhere in the ballpark- simply outstanding! These guys are starting to set the standard for surface detail and no mistake. About 5 seconds after opening the box the Maryland went from "nice for the pile to have for when I want one" to "I'll be knocking one of these out *real* soon!" Clear parts are getting better too- very usable with nice frame lines.

There is no etch in the kit, but two bags of very nice resin are included covering the props, various interior details and other external lumps, bumps and aerials- all very nicely reproduced in buff resin.

Very nice decals for two aircraft- a Vichy French with all those lovely red/yellow stripes over three tone camo, and an RAF Western desert one in mid stone, dark earth and azure. I'll leave others to fight over the colour of the roundels, but I think they'll look good when on.

As you may have guessed I'm a bit impressed! The standard of this has me practically salivating at the prospect of the MPM Wellington and Defiant turning up. Even if you don't much like the subject, I'm pretty sure a look at the quality of the moulding will swing many people into letting their wallets do the talking. . .

Thanks as usual to Earl Martell of NKR Models in Australia for the unbelievable promptness of his service- ordered Monday, turned up Saturday. .the man's amazing- and cheap, try him next time you want an Eastern European product, satisfaction is guaranteed. I have no connection with NKR other than being a hugely satisfied customer.
